Optimalization Trade Schedule

The aim of business plan optimisation is to cover power needs by purchasing energy products to buy the energy in the optimum and economical way.

SELT supports various zone products able to cover the diagram - annual, quarterly, monthly - and variants thereof. It combines them to cover a business diagram, offering the user powerful optimising instruments. From another point of view, there are products available, such as BASE power, PEAK power, OFF PEAK power, priced at different prices. Other factors that need to be considered include for example type of the day- work day, holiday, as well as other influences (seasons of the year, temperature, …).

Mathematical models used to optimise the coverage can set various optimisation criteria – to minimise resultant price, maximise diagram area covered, minimise over-purchased or under-purchased quantities. The optimisation strategy can vary – if the fine for the failure to follow the diagram (price for a deviation caused) is lower that the price of the peak power needed to cover the diagram exactly, it is better to do an “over-purchase“ at a lower price and to earn possible revenues from selling excess energy (if there would be an opportunity to do so on the market) rather than covering the diagram at a higher cost. SELT provides its users with tools intended for development of various scenarios and “what if” analyses. A very close cooperation with the SKEI system and a strong statistical and mathematical apparatus allow users, for example, to compare a predicted diagram with an actual takeoff in the past (under comparable conditions), to search for samples in the past corresponding to the given conditions (season of the year, temperatures..) and to create and compare models.

The optimisation mathematical apparatus uses various methods of linear and mathematical programming (simplex and revised simplex method, branch and border method). The prediction system for short and ultra-short (hour) forecasts works with neural networks.
